Odfjell chooses Alfa Laval OceanGlide to enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions with fluidic air lubrication

Odfjell Ship Management has partnered with Alfa Laval in their decarbonization effort by selecting the Alfa Laval OceanGlide fluidic air lubrication system to be installed on one of their tankers. Alfa Laval OceanGlide is the name of Alfa Laval’s newly acquired air lubrication system, which is based on patented fluidic technology. This technology is the latest addition to Alfa Laval’s sustainable portfolio, aimed at supporting shipowners in addressing fuel and emission challenges.

Alfa Laval to showcase its latest innovations at Nor-Shipping 2025

Nor-Shipping, the leading international forum for the Northern European maritime industry, will take place 3-6 June in Oslo, Norway. Alfa Laval will be present in Hall E to meet with customers and partners at the exhibition. This year, the company will showcase its future-proof solutions, focusing on energy transition, vessel efficiency, ocean protection and digitalization. Alfa Laval invites visitors to Stand E02-15 to explore the latest advancements in its diverse marine portfolio. Alfa Laval will provide Rio Tinto, the world’s largest dry bulk shipper, with the OceanGlide fluidic air lubrication system. This innovative system enhances a ship’s propulsion efficiency and energy savings while sailing. Rio Tinto has selected the Alfa Laval OceanGlide fluidic air lubrication system for one of its bulk carriers, as part of its focus to boost vessel energy efficiency and decarbonize shipping. Recognizing the merits of OceanGlide in the market, the company has chosen to retrofit a Rio Tinto-owned vessel with the system to assess this energy-efficient technology for its fleet.

Alfa Laval secures first contract for ammonia fuel supply system, marking a major milestone in maritime decarbonization

Alfa Laval has signed its first contract for the ammonia fuel supply system, FCM Ammonia, reinforcing its position as a frontrunner in developing solutions for decarbonizing the maritime industry. The FCM Ammonia will be installed onboard seven LPG/ammonia carriers for Tianjin Southwest Maritime.
